MISSION AND GOALS

To research and promote active safety technologies that can warn the driver or intervene by taking control of the vehicle to avoid or mitigate a crash.

These technologies, such as Electronic Stability Control (ESC) or Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), monitor vehicle dynamics and use sensors such as cameras, RADARs and LIDARs to monitor the traffic situation around the vehicle.

The P-Safe Committee investigates the functionality and effectiveness of these systems and, where appropriate, develops test procedures that can be applied within individual markets and insurance systems to rate and encourage their fitment.

AREAS COVERED

The main areas covered by the Committee are:

Electronic Stability Control

Automatic Emergency Braking

Rear Automatic Emergency Braking

Lane Support Systems

Automatic parking systems
