MISSION AND GOALS
The RCAR Replacement Parts Working Group was established to analyse and evaluate the use of aftermarket parts in the repair industry. Its objective is to identify best practices and develop processes that promote the proper and controlled use of high-quality spare parts in insurance claim repairs.
The WG’ mission is to analyse the impact of replacement parts on the repairability of automobiles, with the goal of improving the efficiency and safety of repair processes. Through a generic approach, the aim is to generate knowledge that contributes to the development of procedures to verify the quality of replacement parts, facilitate their accessibility, and reduce the costs and time associated with repairs, while always ensuring the safety of the vehicle user.
As result of their work, a position paper on aftermarket replacements parts and RCAR's technical criteria for the certification of body replacement parts were elaborated.
The Replacement Parts Working Group was also commissioned to update the “RCAR technical criteria” with changes and modifications it deems necessary in accordance with the progress of technique.
