ABOUT MRC MALAYSIA
Appointed by the insurance companies in Malaysia with endorsement of The Central Bank of
Malaysia (Bank Negara Malaysia – BNM), MRC fundamental mission is to reduce subjectivity in motor
claims’ estimation and compensation. The consciousness of a need to ensure that vehicles damaged
in an accident are repaired using the right methodology, equipment, and skills, to be safely put back
on the road. This will continue to be MRC’s paramount social responsibility.
MRC MALAYSIA KEY ROLES
1. Implement and localise a single and standard database of replacement motor parts
nomenclature, price reference and repair times to enable the computerised preparation,
transmission and approval of repair estimates.
2. Establish and set up a communications hub or Integrated Claims and Automotive Portal
(iCAP) through which all estimates would be routed for collection and analysis of claims data
including fraud detection.
3. Certify and conduct compliancy audits on all front-end estimating systems developed or
marketed by software houses that are linked to the MRC Database and iCAP.
4. Engage in research projects by analysing and developing standards for accident repairs
including replacement parts, paint, repair times and repair methodology. Keeping abreast
with latest innovation involving ADAS, autonomous technology, new energy, security and
safety performance evaluation programs in collaboration with academic institutions,
government agencies and industry partners.
5. Educate and train collision repair industry personnel including insurance assessors, bodyshop
estimators and independent loss adjusters, and help them to upskill and reskill to meet the
technology of modern cars.
6. Provide data and analysis reports such as Business Intelligence tool (BI tool) with the data
repository allowing analysis, benchmarking and immediate claims performance monitoring
to all motor insurance stakeholders.
