THE STEERING COMMITTEE

Main Responsibilities of the Steering Committee

  1. To oversee and manage the affairs of the Organization in a businesslike and legal manner.
  2. To approve the expenditure and salary of the Secretary General.
  3. To ensure that all and any expenditure of the Organization’s resources is undertaken in the interest of the Members.
  4. To direct the activities of the Secretary General in accordance with the wishes of the Members.
  5. To decide, after due examination and deliberation, the grade of membership for new Members.
  6. To review the membership status of all Provisional Members with a view to upgrading on an annual basis.

Constitution of the Steering Committee

  1. The Steering Committee shall consist of representation of the Members drawn from the main continental regions broadly in line with the numbers of members in that continental region.  Thus, at present the representation is North America 2, South America 1, Asia 2, Europe 3.
  2. The Steering Committee Members shall offer themselves for re-election by the membership on an annual basis.  Each region will review their Steering Committee representation no less often than every two years.
  3. The Chairman shall be appointed by the unanimous vote of the Steering Committee Members and shall offer himself/herself for re-election annually.
  4. The Steering Committee Chairman shall deliver a full report of its activities to the membership at the Annual Conference.
